Toyota Means Quality Service
By Georgi Maksimovna Wolfe
A SEASONED television director who had owned 30 different brands of cars since the early 70s attested that almost all leading car brands perform so well when bought brand-new, what matters most is the after-sales service. This is true especially after the car has logged 100,000 kilometers or more.
These days when almost every new car has a computer box and intricate electronics, thus company-designed service manual must be observed by auto mechanics and technicians when servicing a car. Even after the warranty has expired, it is highly recommended that these cars are serviced by the car company or branch wherein you bought your unit. ‘Outside’ auto mechanics – especially if they are not government-certified to have attained the required standards for their trade – may do more damage or harm than repair or replace broken car parts. In some cases, even though the critical car part must be replaced to avert any possible vehicular accident, the mechanic would say, “Pwede pa ito, remendyuhan na lang natin.” This is not true at any Toyota Service Center. They never compromise the lives of their clients.
Last January 9, we had our car serviced at Toyota Motors Cubao. All employees, from security guards – who would assist you even in parking or leaving the premises - to service staff, technicians and mechanics are very courteous and neat-looking. If you have booked your service requirements in advance, it takes only less than an hour for the whole process – from entrance to the service center to exit. To keep you busy, there are plenty of reading materials at the waiting area and a television set complete with flowing coffee for customers and their drivers or “alalays.”
We had experienced a seriously discourteous treatment from a security guard at a car company (not Japanese or Korean) on Marcos Highway. We did not complain for fear that the guard may lose his job. But we called the attention of the senior staff at the branch. The guard had personally apologized but the damage to the reputation of the car company was already done. As a result of the unmannerly treatment, we did not bother to consider their car brand in acquiring a new unit.
Compared to the service we had from other car companies, we can attest that Toyota Motors Cubao is the best. No wonder, especially on weekends, there is always a queue of potential buyers here.
A few years ago, I had my car tuned-up at the “casa” of a car company wherein the unit was bought. The service is average, but what made me furious was that the car stalled after about an hour of driving. It was already past 7:00 p.m. and the “casa” was already closed. Good thing that I have two close friends who are certified, world-class mechanics (the younger one is already a part-owner of a big car service center in California). I called them and they arrived 30 minutes later on two separate cars. There was a problem on the electrical system. In just a few minutes, the problem was fixed. The following morning, I called the car company and complained. Of course they apologized but the damaged had been done already. What if the owner is a woman and the car was stalled in a place that would put her life in danger? The next time I had it tuned up here, I told the service technician the problem I had before. Of course it did not recur.
Based on long years of having our cars serviced at Toyota, we never encountered any problem after any tune-up, change oil, or repairs. Before buying any brand-new car, do seriously consider the after-sales service. At Toyota Motors Cubao, it is second to none.
